What's this? A Meccano car?

Niche car producer GTM has unveiled this new track-day special: a pared-to-the-bone flyweight two-seater powered by Honda's Civic Type-R engine. The GTM 40TR should blow most things off the tarmac at track days, with 0-60mph claimed in less than four seconds, and a top speed in excess of 150mph. Although developing only 220bhp, the GTM is claimed to be exceptionally light weight. There are no body panels, for instance - or doors for that matter. The driver, and one passenger, simply clamber over an aluminium chassis into a stripped-out cabin. GTM is a low-volume maker of sports cars, including the Libra and Spyder, based in the UK's west Midlands. It is developing a 40TR that can run on biofuel, with the hope of starting a one-make race series. Best bit about this lightweight Ariel Atom rival? It will cost around £15,000 - five grand less than the cheapest Atom. GTM says it will develop a roadgoing version if there's enough interest, too.
