GTbyCitroen at Goodwood Festival of Speed – Confirmed

The GTbyCitroen Concept will tackle the Goodwood Hill Climb in July

The GTbyCitroen will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed between 3rd & 5th of July, and will tackle the 1.16 mile hill climb as part of the Sunday Times Supercar Run. But there is no word on who will be driving the Citroen GT, although our money is still on Race of Champions title holder, Sebastian Loeb.

This tour of high-profile European Motoring events is a prelude to the limited production of the GTbyCitroen Concept, which was never actually designed to be built. It was in fact designed for a computer game – Gran Turismo 5 – but such was the feedback Citroen decided it was worth their while to make a limited run of the car.

Great-looking though the Citroen GT is, and appealing though the promise is, we don’t yet know what the powertrain will be. There seems to be nothing in Citroen’s own arsenal that would suit, and rumour is it will feature a Ford sourced V8.

And all this high-end publicity surrounding the GTbyCitroen Concept works very well for Citroen. Not only does it get the news out that Citroen is about to produce a very high-end supercar, but it reinforces Citroen’s rebranding as a premium marque with the launch of the upmarket Citroen DS range.
