Geneva Show 2014: McLaren reveals 650S Spider and Coupe

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

BRITISH MARQUE McLaren has expanded its supercar range at the Geneva Motor Show with the introduction of the 650S.

Slotting between the 12C and the spectacular P1, the 650S comes in Coupe and Spider forms and has much in common with its siblings.

The structure of the 650S is shared with the 12C, made exclusively of carbonfibre and extremely light. It also means that the Spider version is just as strong as the fixed-roof Coupe version without the need for any additional bracing.

Powered by a yet more powerful version of the 3.8-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine producing 641bhp, the 650S can reach 207mph and can sprint from 0-124mph in a remarkable 8.4 seconds – making it faster than the iconic 1994 F1, the first road car to come from McLaren.

Both Coupe and Spider versions are priced at around £20,000 more than the equivalent 12Cs at £192,250 and £215,250 respectively, and deliveries are expected to begin in just a few weeks.
