Honda CR-Z, Fit joining hybrid lineup next yearMon, 13 Jul 2009 00:00:00 -0700
Honda is growing its hybrid lineup with the addition of the CR-Z coupe and a hybrid version of the Fit.
The Japanese automaker on Monday said that the sporty CR-Z, which has been shown as a concept, will go on sale in Japan next February. The hybrid Fit is to hit the Japan market before the end of next year.
Will these hybrids make it to Honda showrooms in the United States? Honda's news release offers no hints. But the Fit is on sale here, and the CR-Z concept has been on the Honda stand at U.S. auto shows.
Both vehicles will use Honda's Integrated Motor Assist hybrid powertrain, which is the heart of the Insight.
Production approval of the CR-Z is certain to please fans of Honda's CR-X two-seater, which was sold in the States from 1983 to 1991.
