The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe gets a facelift and new engines

The Santa Fe gets a revised front grill, restyled headlights, front fogs and a new front bumper. At the back you get new tail lamps, a new bumper and twin exhausts. There are also new side sills, new alloys and new roof rails.

The interior tweak is even more underwhelming. All we can find that’s changed is a revised instrument cluster, built in SatNav and an optional parking camera.

But the biggest news is the oily bits. There is a new 2.2 litre turbo diesel producing 197bhp and 311lb/ft of torque. Driving through a six-speed manual ‘box the new engine delivers 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds and a top speed of 118mph. Economy is 42.8 mpg and emissions of 174g/km. Big improvements on the outgoing 155bhp 2.2.

Alos introduced is a 2.4 litre, 4-pot Theta II petrol unit with 174bhp. 0-60mph comes up in 10.7 seconds and tops out at 118mph. Fuel consumption is 33.2mpg and emissions 203mpg. As with the new diesel the petrol comes with a six-speed manual ‘box as standard, but both models can be specified with the new six-speed auto.

Hyundai hasn’t released prices for the UK yet, but the Santa Fe will debut next week in Frankfurt and go on sale by the end of the year.

I’m sure we’ll get more UK specific details – and prices – next week.
