Hyundai adds Fox Marketing Veloster to SEMA display

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Hyundai continued its SEMA effort on Wednesday with the most powerful street-focused Veloster Turbo yet. It will be on display in Las Vegas, Nov. 5-8.

Hyundai said its new-ish 1.6-liter Gamma engine was robust, but even we were surprised when Fox Marketing squeezed 370 hp from the four banger with a selection of high-performance engine components. The gold and black Veloster comes with a Borg Warner EFR turbo upgraded 845 Motorsports, front-mounted intercooler, AEM water/methanol injection system, VP Racing 101-octane fuel and an ECU tune from Seoulful Racing. ARK also provided the cat-back exhaust, and Vband added the 3-inch stainless downpipe.

For the suspension, UNIQ Performance donated the strut tower brace, Import Shark did the chassis bracing while ARK Performance provided a coilover kit. Braking components are from WP Pro with its six-piston calipers, carbon-fiber ducting and 13.6-inch wavy-cut rotors.

Exterior mods include paint from BASF, an Import Shark front lip spoiler, custom light surrounds, a Takata tow strap and a custom rear fascia mesh.

The interior was mostly completed by Takata, who provided the racing seats, rear seats, seat sliders and harnesses.

“The Veloster Turbo was designed with affordable performance in mind,” said Scott Margason, director, product planning, Hyundai Motor America. “Fox Marketing’s unique concept showcases the versatility of our turbocharged 4-cylinder Gamma engine family while expanding the overall performance envelope for the Veloster line.”

The Fox Veloster Turbo will join the EGR Yellowcake, Bisimoto Genesis Coupe and Legato Concept Coupe on the stand at SEMA.
