Infiniti Emerg-E concept

Tue, 28 Feb 2012

Infiniti's third recent concept car, the Emerg-E, will debut at the Geneva motor show next week.

Following the Essence of 2009 and last year's Etherea, the Emerg-E is the brand's first mid-engined car design. While the proportions of all three cars are very different (thanks to the Essence's front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and the front-engined, front-wheel drive Etherea), their form language is shared.

Like its siblings, the Emerg-E features the distinctive inverted trapezoid grille that gives birth to a dramatic, wave-like transition from hood to bodyside and crescent-shaped C-pillar.

Internally, the cabin is split visually into two sections through the use of different colored fabrics – signifying a driver-orientated cockpit and continuing Infiniti's Double Wave interior design strategy. The use of layered surfaces also references the car's exterior.

Car Design News has an in-depth first look of the Emerg-E coming soon, so keep your eyes on the features section of the website.
