Infiniti G37x S

The Infiniti G37x S is the latest addition to Infinit’s European range, adding 4WD to the sporty G37 S. Costs £38,979.

The Infiniti G Range in the UK and Europe gets a new addition this week with the arrival of the 4WD G37x S, adding all wheel drive to the sporty S model for the first time. In the process, the GT model that did have a 4WD option now loses it. So more of a shuffle than an addition, it would seem.

The G37x S will be the only 4WD model in the G range with the GT now being offered in RWD guise only, but at least there’s still a 4WD option for those who want the extra grip in bad weather.

The G37x S gets the same 3.7 litre V6 petrol as all the other cars in Infiniti’s G range, but adding 4WD has added a tenth to the 0-62mph (now 6.0 seconds) and knocked the top speed down by 6mph.

To mark the G37x S out from its RWD siblings you’ll get red S badges, a set of 18″ alloys and smoked lens headlights. Inside there are electric sports seats and aluminium pedals and the G37x S comes with Infiniti’s Multimedia pack of HDD SatNav and Music System with Bose sound, reversing camera and touchscreen.

The Infiniti G37x S is a competent offering, but we do still worry that Infiniti are failing to set out their stall convincingly. Fiddling at the edges for those wanting a 4WD G isn’t really addressing the focus of the range or its USP (what is its USP?) and does little to help Infiniti take on Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes and Audi.
