Jaguar XF Black Pack revealed

Wed, 03 Nov 2010

The Jaguar XF Black Pack can be added to the XFR and XF Diesel S

The Jaguar XF has been a huge success for Jaguar, selling more recently in the UK than the comparable BMWs and Mercedes. And justifiably so, it’s a very good car. And not just as the Jaguar XFR either (which tends to be our default setting – the most powerful V8 you can squeeze under the bonnet) which offers more aggresive looks and enormous power, but in more lowly models too.

We’ve just spent a week playing with the enormously appealing Jaguar XF Diesel S, which conspires to offer much of what the XFR offers but for £10k less and with fuel costs that are about half of its V8 sibling (look out for our Jaguar XF Diesel S review in the next few days). Which is hard to argue against.

But for us one of the biggest appeals of the XF Diesel S is the more dramatic looks – subtly dramatic if you please, this is a Jaguar - that the optional aerodynamics pack offers, with a more butch front end and extended sills. It’s a sign of Jaguar’s ever growing confidence that they are willing to push the style boundaries with a more aggressive look, something that’s worked very well with the Black Pack and Speed Pack on the XKR (which we have in this week. So you can look out for the Jaguar XKR Review in a week or so too).

And so successfull has the Black Pack been as an option on the XKR – half of buyers are opting for it – that Jaguar are launching it across the XF range too. So if you like the idea of making your new XFR or XF Diesel S look that bit more sinister you can now tick the Black Pack option box (prices start at £950).

The Black Pack on the XF features 20″ Dark Grey Draco Alloys, gloss black grill and gloss black window surrounds which Jaguar says “…gives the XF a highly distinctive, very modern and a slightly edgy appearance”.

The Black Pack can be specified with a choice of paint jobs from a special colour palette. Available paint colours include Polaris White, Spectrum Blue, Ultimate Black, Stratus Grey, Lunar Grey and Liquid Silver, plus Kyanite Blue and Salsa Red which are unique to the XFR.

We even reckon you stand a good chance of seeing the bulk of your £950 back when it comes time to sell.
