Jaguar XK leaves the lineup

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

Production of the Jaguar XK stretched from 1996 with the XK8 and will wrap up as the final 50 limited edition XK models roll off the assembly line this summer.

The farewell XKs will be branded as "Final Fifty Limited Edition" cars, and will carry the same specification as the current XKR model, along with some added features that celebrate the history of Jaguar and the evolution of the brand's grand touring coupes and convertibles.

Under the hood, a supercharged 510-hp 5.0-liter V8 is capable of bringing the XK to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds according to Jag, and an active exhaust system helps ensure the engine note remains prominent.

This villain's ride will be draped, appropriately, beneath a cloak of Ultimate black paint and will feature special trim accents inside and out. A custom louvered hood takes attributes from the classic E-type, and the interior is decked out in diamond sewn stitch pattern leather with suedecloth bits on the steering wheel; a unique badge sitting on the center console and doorsill plates will let everyone know this is a special edition.

The 2015 XK Final Fifty limited edition 2+2 will also receive some performance adjustments, like the addition of the dynamic pack and performance pack that traditionally come as an option on the XKR. Aerodynamic upgrades mean the 155 mph top speed is bumped up to a breathtaking 174 mph thanks to aero side sills, rear diffuser and a bolstered rear wing; the ride height of this Jag also drops 10 mm, and the car sits on a set of 20-inch forged wheels. Pricing for the limited edition is not available at this time, but the XK coupe comes at a base price of $84,500 and the convertible comes in at $90,500. We expect that pricing for the Limited Edition will be higher than the XKR.

Inspiration for the limited run comes from the 50-special edition E-types produced back in 1974.
