Jaguar XKR 75 gets a Prince of Wales check Alcantara interior from Jaguar Italy

Jaguar XKR 75 with Prince of Wales check interior. Lovely.

The Jaguar XKR 75 – a limited edition XKR with 522bhp, a body kit and some stripes – was revealed last Summer and debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. And it looked good and went well.

We overheard the odd comment at Goodwood about the stripes that swept all the way along the flnaks being a bit ‘Loud’. A bit ‘Not very Jaguar’. And there was a bit of disappointment that Jaguar hadn’t given the XKR 75 the boost it needed to join the 300kph club.

Still, it was a good effort and perhaps the only thing missing was a properly bespoke interior. Because the interior on the XKR, although a nice place to be, is starting to feel its age. So when we heard that Jaguar in Italy were re-trimming the interior we sat up and took notice. And now we wish we hadn’t.

Italian style is something that runs through the entire fabric of the country and its people. From bespoke tailoring to cheap chic, the Italians manage to look stylish and cool and contemporary a every turn. But even the Italians lose the plot from time to time.

Maybe it’s just us. Maybe this XKR 75 all decked out with Prince of Wales check Alcantara on everything from the roof to the seats to the door cards to the… looks good to Italian eyes. Maybe the Italians’ sense of style is so perfectly honed that we can’t understand how wonderful this XKR 75 looks.

But to us it looks like an explosion in a cheap suit factory.
