Jeep introduces 2014 Wrangler Polar Edition for winter

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

The 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition first made its debut at the Frankfurt motor show this past September, showing off its new front grille, gloss black alloy wheels and polar white interior finishes. The winter Wrangler will arrive in showrooms this November, just in time for the snowy season.

The Polar Edition takes inspiration from the great outdoors, incorporating Jeep's 4x4 capability as well as new design cues taken from the severe climate and extreme conditions that characterize the Antarctic region.

The “Polar” badge located on the Wrangler displays the 78 degrees S and 106 degrees E coordinates that correspond to the location of Vostok in Antarctica: pinpointing the exact location of the most severe temperature ever recorded, -128.56 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Wrangler Polar Edition will feature new exterior details such as a new front grille, powerdome hood, and body-color hardtop with deep-tint sunscreen glass. A gloss black Jeep logo above the front grille continues the Polar Edition's gloss black accents, while a unique decal featuring the outline of mountains graces the hood.

The interior will also get a winterized makeover, including black heated leather seats accented by white stitching and the “Polar” logo embroidered on the backrest. The pearl white stitching is carried throughout the interior, including the steering wheel, door armrests and center console lid. The passenger-side dashboard grab bar and air vents also feature the high-gloss ceramic white finish, said to mimic the effect of the light on Antarctic glaciers.

The Polar Edition will be available in both two- and four-door Unlimited versions and buyers will be able to choose from the all-new Hydro Blue exterior paint color as well as Billet Silver Metallic and Bright White.

This limited-edition model will feature a 3.6-liter V6 engine, producing 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque all mated to a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Base price for the two-door version starts at $33,490 while the four-door starts at $37,190, both including the destination charge.
