Juke-R created from GT-R parts in Nissan video

Wed, 12 Oct 2011

Nissan has posted a second video of the Juke-R conversion on its Facebook and YouTube pages, highlighting the transfer of technology from the Nissan GT-R sports car to the Juke crossover. As you can imagine, it gets pretty complicated.

In the video, Nissan engineers and managers talk about what it took to put the 485-hp V6 engine, all-wheel-drive system and all of its controllers into the Juke.

The computers and electronics were a big concern, as was the removal of the floorpan so the twin-turbo 3.8-liter would hit its mounting points. The drivetrain also needed to be shortened.

Nissan talks about installing the powerplant, wiring it up for engineering data and flogging it on the test track.

Of course, that will all be done before the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in November, when the car will make its debut in Las Vegas. Nissan is only building two of these cars, one right-hand drive and one left-drive.

We expect more news to come out closer to the 2011 SEMA show.
