Juke-R hits the track: Video

Wed, 07 Dec 2011

Now, for the moment of truth. The all-wheel-drive Nissan Juke with a transplanted GT-R engine and chassis is ready for shakedown.

The tests happen at a few locations, first at a short course to make the sure the Juke-R is safe. It's a road-legal car, so all of the seatbelts, headlights and mirrors should be working. The engineers also use this opportunity to fine-tune the Juke-R, getting the last few bugs out of the package.

The shakedown, which happened at the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom, is when Nissan engineers really go for the gusto. That means full-speed runs around the track and checking all the hoses, fluids and other parts to make sure everything works without a problem.

The last shot at dusk shows the Juke-R tearing off in the distance using the launch-control function borrowed its GT-R cousin. Looks like it works just fine.
