Ken Okuyama Design Co. Ltd celebrated the growth of its US subsidiary with the opening of its new California Design Center at 17742 Cowan, Irvine. Previously occupied by Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design, this purpose built design studio provides Ken Okuyama Design's clients access to both the creative talent of Ken Okuyama Design as well as a creative center.
Updated to reflect the Ken Okuyama brand, and to accommodate customer programs in a secure and confidential facility, the new design center occupies over 13,500 square feet and boasts design studios, project rooms, an outside viewing area and full modeling capabilities with two surface plates. Centered in the heart of Southern California's design and car community, and on the border of Newport Beach, Ken Okuyama Design USA Inc. provides design services to a mix of automotive, transportation, product, entertainment and interior design organizations.
Ken Okuyama has assembled a handpicked team of industry experts in California with extensive experience gained in automotive and product design, brand visualization and product development. Current staff of Ken Okuyama Design USA Inc. includes Neil Brooker, Managing Director, Design Manager Micheal Castiglione and Stuart Macey, Chief Engineer. Previous example works from the team include the Porsche Carrera GT concept vehicle and the Dodge Challenger production vehicle among others.
"We are delighted to have secured the Design Center at the epicenter of the automotive design community in California and near the many support organizations and partners in this area," Neil Brooker said. "The facility provides an ideal environment to provide creative designs and visual branding solutions to our customers as well as an ability to develop one off vehicles through our exclusive bespoke experience."
It is expected that, along with client design programs, Ken Okuyama Design USA, Inc. will support Ken Okuyama Design branded products including the vehicle programs (KO 7 & KO 8), furniture design, eyewear and other products. In addition, Ken Okuyama Design USA Inc. is offering an exclusive coach-build experience to discerning customers looking to design and develop a one-off road going vehicle. The Ken Okuyama Design 10 step process allows an exclusive customer the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the secretive design world and to immerse themselves in the design and creation of their own coach-built dream car.
"The diversity of Ken Okuyama Design USA's client base is critical for keeping Ken Okuyama Design on the cutting edge," says CEO Ken Okuyama. "Although the team is known for its automotive experience, we have already designed office equipment, chairs, mass transit, alternative fuel vehicles and industrial equipment for our growing list of clients".
Ken Okuyama Design is expected to build a diverse team of designers and engineers from varying industry backgrounds to foster creative energy and innovation.
