Kia Cross GT SUV Concept teased ahead of Chicago debut

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

A new Kia Concept for a larger CUV/SUV – the Kia Cross GT – is being teased ahead of a reveal at the Chicago Auto Show.

Kia may have made big strides in the last few years – along with sister company, Hyundai – but there’s no sense they’re resting on their laurels despite declaring 2013 the year when brand perception is key rather than huge sales growth.

We already know that the Kia pro_cee’d GT and the five-door Cee’d GT, both the with a 200bhp petrol turbo – are heading for the Geneva Motor Show in March and will sit alongside the the Kia Urban Concept, which appears to be Kia’s take on the Nissan Juke.

Now we get a tease for a new CUV/SUV from Kia – called the Kia Cross GT – which Kia are teasing in the shadowy photo above.

The Cross GT is a larger SUV – a size up from the Sorento – and features many of Kia’s design cues, like the ‘Tiger’ nose and D pillars and looks like it could offer seven seats. All Kia has to say on the Cross GT is:

Inspired by nature, driven by technology, the Cross GT hints at the future of Kia’s design language in the form of a premium Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) that is larger than the new 2014 Sorento.

The Cross GT may be just a concept, and even if it isn’t there’s no knowing whether Kia consider there’s a market for a KIA CUV that’s bigger than the Sorento in  Europe.

But with the Chicago Auto Show starting in a little over a week, we should have more on the Cross GT Concept soon.
