The 2011 Kia Sportage gets priced for the UK

The 2011 Kia Sportage launched at Geneva this year with marketing kicking off  for the 2011 Sportage – Kia’s version of the Hyundai ix35 – in March, with some convincing campaigns featuring ‘A new kind of WOW…!‘ as a tag line. And it’s not a bad way to market the Kia crossover; it offers quite a lot for less than most do.

Now we get to the nitty-gritty with Kia finally getting round to letting us know what the UK model lineup will be and what it’s going to cost.

The Kia Sportage will come with a choice of four engines; a a pair of diesels – 1.7 litre CRDI and 2.0 litre CRDi – and a pair of petrols – a new 1.6 litre direct injection and the 2.0 litre CVVT.

If you know anything about Kias you’ll know they haven’t spent a fortune with the ‘Trendy Name’ outfits, so their model range consisted of trim levels 1, 2 and 3. At least you know where you are.

You get 2WD as standard across the range, but you can opt for AWD on trim levels 2 and three. Entry level is the Sportage 1.6 GDi ‘1’ 2WD which will cost you £16,645 and top of the range is the succunctly-named Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDi KX-3 Sat Nav AWD Auto, which will set you back £26,170.

Top end cars get stuff like integrated SatNav with a 7″ full-map touchscreen and you can opt for metallic or mica paint for an extra £435. And you get Kia’s seven year warranty. And that’s about it. Kia are intent on not giving out complete specs until the 2011 Kia Sportage goes on sale on 1st November.

I hope the suspense doesn’t kill you.
