Koenigsegg Agera at Goodwood: Up close and personal

Koenigsegg Agera on the Goodwood hillclimb

We have to confess that we have a huge soft spot for the creations of Christian von Koenigsegg.

So when we knew that friend of Cars UK Tommy Wareham, purveyor of all things stunning on four wheels at SuperVettura, was taking the only Koenigsegg Agera in the UK to Goodwood we thought Claire’s Goodwood Odyssey should continue with a good poke round the Agera.

Understandably, Tommy wasn’t going to let Claire – or anyone else – loose on the Agera up the hillclimb as it’s a customer’s car, but he did chuck Claire the keys for a good look round, the opportunity to grab a set of Agera photos (below), and the chance to dream…

Beautifully finished and oozing carbon fibre from every pore, the Koenigsegg Agera is perhaps the ultimate bonkers supercar, at an equally bonkers price – just think of it as a million pound supercar; it’s close enough.

Claire was stunned by the fabulous fit and finish; the quality of build is astonishing and the interior in particular is a masterpiece. It’s hard to believe that this car has been built by three Swedes in a shed in the snow; it’s the match of any car on the planet for quality.

Powered by Koenigsegg’s monster 927bhp 5.0 litre V8, the Agera can get to 60mph in under 3 seconds – a feat few cars can manage – a little of which it showed as it flew up the Goodwood hillclimb (in Tommy’s slightly nervous hands) earlier today and, thanks to the inclusion of the ‘Top Gear Wing’, it managed to keep off the grass and out of the flint wall. Or maybe that was just down to Tom’s consummate skill?

We were a little worried that after BMW were good enough to fix Claire up with the BMW 1M Coupe for a hillclimb yesterday, that her company car ambitions may have gone up a bit.

After Tommy’s treat, we’re sure they have.
