The Koenigsegg Agera hits the floor at Geneva

We managed to uncover information on the Koenigsegg Agera early on, following on from the chat we had with Koenigsegg when they told us they would be bringing ‘Something New’ to the Geneva Motor Show. And I think we were a bit ungracious. Maybe it was disappointment that theAgera wasn’t perhaps as radical as we hoped from a new Koenigsegg, or it could just have been a long day. Probably a bit of both.

Having looked at the Koenigsegg Agera on the floor at Geneva we have to confess it is very appealing. How could it not be, with Hypercar looks and Hypercar power? And we were too hard on it when we said it was just a mildly facelifted CCX.  It is more than that, and it looks more than that.

The Koenigsegg Agera is in a sense a hard-core version of the CCX. Think Stradale or Super Veloce or any name that conjures up a more ferocious beast in a car. And when you think of it as a CCX SV it does make more sense. It has aerodynamic tweaks, it gets the ‘TG Wing’, the fastest acting traction control in the industry, 910bhp and 800lb/ft of torque and lots of carbon fibre – inside and out.

And what Christian von Keonigsegg has to say probably describes quite well what the Agera is about:

The development of the Agera has been evolutionary, following the Koenigsegg tradition of continuous improvements, by honing and perfecting the end result, all based on previous experience and innovative mindsets. The focus when developing the Agera was to maximize, driving experience, cornering speed, braking and adaptability.

So yes, we would have liked something completely new. But we like the Koenigsegg Agera far more now we’ve seen it and digested it. So we got a video of the Agera from Koenigsegg so you can see it properly and make your own mind up.
