Record Aventador sales drive Lamborghini’s turnover

It would not have been unreasonable to think that Lamborghini’s turnover for 2013 would be less than 2012, especially as the Gallardo was about to be consigned to the history books to make way for the Huracan. But nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, despite the Gallardo’s demise at the end of 2013, Lamborghini managed to increase its turnover in 2013 to €508 million – up €39 million on 2012 – and break records for V12 sales in the process.

The range-topping Aventador – with a starting price of £260k in the UK – managed to rack up sales of 1001 units, just 119 fewer than the entry point Gallardo which itself only sold 41 fewer than in 2012, despite buyers being well aware the Gallardo was soon to go out of production.

Not only that, but sales of the Aventador are so strong that production is sold out for another year, a remarkable feat some 2.5 years after the Aventador arrived.

Lamborghini boss, Stephan Winkelmann, said:

In the year of our 50th anniversary, Lamborghini has delivered a very satisfying performance, confirming the strength of our product and commercial strategy.

Today the company is driving towards the future from a very solid economic base. With our very attractive and new model mix, ongoing high investments of more than 20% of our total turnover into R&D as well as continuous investments into factory premises and the recovery of the markets we anticipate a new phase of solid global growth into new dimensions in the short and long term.

And with the new Huracan coming on stream in 2014, it doesn’t look like too much of a stretch to expect Lamborghini to beat their 2013 turnover this year, especially as Lamborghini already has 1,000 orders for the new Huracan.
