Lexus IS sedan highlights SEMA show display

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

This is the year of the IS for Lexus at the SEMA show, with seven of the sports sedans all together on different stands scattered around various halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center. But there will also be one LFA and a bicycle.

Let's start with the LFA.

Tuner Guy S. De Alwis started with a 2012 Lexus LFA, which might not need any tuning at all, and added an Artisan Spirits Carbon Fiber Aero Kit with front, side and rear underspoilers and rear center spoiler, 20-inch offset Work Gnosis HS202 wheels in Brush Silver Clear Finish and Toyo Proxes R888 tires. Perhaps because of the latter, the car will be displayed at the Toyo Tires stand in the South Hall at SEMA.

The Vossen Wheels 2014 IS 350 F SPORT has paint so yellow you'll see it from anywhere on the show floor. It's Premium Motorsport custom Lexus LFA Pearl Yellow paint, to be specific. It rolls on Vossen CVT Directional Wheels (20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear) and sits on RS-R Black-I Series coilovers and a Tommy Kaira full aero package. It also has a Brembo High Performance GT brake kit front and rear, Tommy Kaira dual exhaust and Nitto Invo Tires, 245/30/20 front and 285/25/20 rear. It'll be on the Vossen stand in the South Hall, lower level if you're at SEMA.

Seibon Carbon makes things out of carbon fiber, so naturally, the Seibon Carbon 2014 IS 350 F Sport has carbon-fiber hood, trunk, fenders, front lip, side skirts, rear lip, rear spoiler, roof spoiler and interior trim pieces. But it also has Volk Racing G27 wheels, 20x8.5 +38 5-114 front and 20x9.5 +38 5-114 rear, A'PEXi SPL suspension and exhaust and Injen Technology custom intake. It'll be at Seibon Carbon's stand in the Center Hall.

Maricar Cortez's first-gen IS 300 has a ProLex performance supercharger system, GReddy e-Manage, Borla custom dual exhaust and OBX headers. Other highlights include: HRE 441R 3-piece wheels, 19x8 front, 19x9 rear; Stop Tech 4 Pot Brakes rebadged in F SPORT blue with front and rear brake rotors; TEIN CS coilovers; Rod Millen Motorsport side skirts; and JDM Altezza front grille.

Andrew Atigehchi's IS 250 is another relatively older school ride, based on a second-generation 2007 Lexus. It has Megan coilovers, a GT Spec front strut tower brace and Cusco rear strut brace; Maverick 508 matte gun metallic wheels: 20x9 front, 20x10 rear; Mazzuri headers; Aimgain performance exhaust system and aero styling package; and F SPORT performance brake system, performance intake, front and rear sway bars, and chassis brace. It will be parked on the Lexus stand.

That is BASF Glasurit Orange Mercury and Galaxy Root Beer paint on Paul Tolson and Gabriel Escobedo's custom wide-body IS 250 F SPORT. It sits so low because it sits on an Air Runner Systems air ride. Those are Wheel Works USA Emotion CR Kiwami wheels (front: 19x9.5” +25, rear: 19x10.5” +12) hiding Rotara Inc. brakes. It'll be parked outside in front of Central Hall.

With 700-plus hp, Philip Chase's 2014 IS 340 may have more power than anything on this page, thanks to a 2JZ-GTE engine swap with a Brian Crower complete valvetrain, 3.4L stroker kit and a Garrett GTX3582R dual ball bearing turbo. Other tunes include Advan TCIII wheels (front: 18x9.0” +25, rear: 18x9.5” +45), OS Giken Triple Plate TR-series clutch and Sparco EVO 2 bucket seats custom-wrapped in leather. It'll be at the Motul booth in the Center Hall.

Gordon Ting's 2014 IS AWD sports a GReddy performance exhaust and air-intake system, TEIN USA custom Street Flex coilovers and a Brembo high performance GT system. It also has Rays Engineering Gram Lights -- 57Xtreme wheels with Toyo Proxes T1 Sport tires, Sparco race harness restraints and R100 race seats with custom-wrapped leather, TRD five-piece aero kit and Evasive Motorsports custom interior safety roll cage and harness bar. It'll be at the Toyo Tires booth in the South Hall Lower.

Finally, if you prefer your own power instead of horsepower, there is the $10,000 “Limited Edition Carbon Fiber Road Bike by Lexus.” It'll be on the Toyo stand, too.
