Lexus LF-Lc Concept - now it's official (click photo for full size)

After a leak this morning of a picture of the Lexus LF-Lc Concept, Lexus has decided to be pragmatic and reveal an official photo.

After Lexus plans to tease us with their new Detroit Concept were left in tatters this morning when a photo of the LF-Lc Concept leaked from a magazine cover, Lexus has decided to bite the bullet and release an official photo of their new concept car. Just the one, mind you, although we’re sure more will crop up in the coming days.

The official picture of the LF-Lc is convincing looking, and still manages to bring to mind a big GS Coupe in the making, even if the concept nomenclature leads us to assume Lexus are planning to build this concept as an L-badged production car.

But even if it does arrive – if it arrives – as an LS Coupe, it will probably be underpinned by the new GS platform. Unless Lexus has a new platform for the LS in the making, that is. What the LF-Lc will be is a hybrid car (no surprise there) although what sort of hybrid we have no idea.

Lexus say the LF-Lc – which was designed at the Calty design studio in Newport Beach, California – is said to be:

Crafted from a clean sheet of paper at the request of Lexus headquarters in Japan, the LF-LC blends both high technology and organic shapes to connect the driver to the machine. The clean lines of the vehicle emphasize motion, creating a distinctive look for this futuristic sport coupe.

Although billed as a design exercise, we would be amazed if the Lc doesn’t find its way to market as either a range-topping GS Coupe or as a replacement for the little missed Lexus SC.
