Mazda is working on an all-new, swoopy design language, which will be unveiled on this Nagare concept car in late November.

The company has issued this borderline pointless, teaser sketch of the coupe concept. The Nagare show car – to be unveiled in Los Angeles on 29 November – will influence the next wave of Mazdas, such as future sports cars. Forthcoming production cars, such as the next 6 saloon, were frozen before Nagare was conceived. It's the first show car from Laurens van den Acker, the company's new design chief, as he seeks to stamp his vision on the Mazda brand and find the replacement for today's 'zoom-zoom' styling. 'Nagare is a celebration of proportions and surface language that will evolve into subsequent designs,' said van den Acker. 'Nagare examines light and shadow, and begins to reveal the global design cues for the next generation of Mazda vehicles.' It's not revealing much yet, but CAR Online will bring you the full lowdown on the Nagare, when the pictures are issued in a fortnight.
