Mercedes tease the 2014 S Class with a work of art

The 2014 Mercedes S Class isn’t due to be revealed until 2013, but Mercedes will be teasing it at the Paris Motor Show with a sculpture.

New car model teases usually take the form of dark photos or photos showing obscure detail. But Mercedes are taking a different route with the new S Class with an artistic sculpture.

The tease photo above is indicating a relief-like sculpture – Aesthetics S - and a projection display bound for the Paris Motor Show in a few weeks which highlights some of the styling cues of the new S Class, long before it actually gets a reveal, probably at next year’s Beijing Motor Show.

What we can see is an almost coupe profile for the new S Class with strong swooping lines down the flanks, design cues Mercedes say herald the future of Mercedes design.

Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz Cars, said:

The characteristic lines of the S-Class have always represented the expression of automotive culture, as we understand it. The new S-Class will continue this tradition and, with its striking lines, will put a face to our design philosophy over the coming years.

So, pretty sculpture and a light show for the new S Class at Paris 2012, but no car. Oh, well.
