The Quant - back at Geneva as the NLV Quant

Last week we ran a story on Koenigsegg taking somethig new to Geneva after we’d had a chat with them. But part of that story was on last year’s Koenigsegg Quant, a four-seat electric supercar we saw at Geneva 2009. At the time it was billed as a Koenigsegg Quant (although, as Koenigsegg pointed out to us, it was always a commission project) but now it’s set to return to Geneva 2010 as the NLV Quant.

We’ve had umpteen emails asking what the deal is with the Quant – now known as the NLV Quant – and how far has it come on in the last year. So we thought we’d have a look and let you know.

The truth is that although the Quant has seemingly moved on in the last year we don’t know a lot more than we did at Geneva ’09. We know that it is a four-seat supercar with four 150kW electric motors with the bodywork covered in a solar film to aid battery charging. Which we pretty much knew last year.

NLV say that they will have a running prototype on the roads by 2011 and the Quant will be production certified by 2012. Which is about all that’s new. In fact we got more detail on the performance and specs when the Koenigsegg Quant was shown last year.

Hopefully we’ll get more to satiate your appetite on the Quant next week at Geneva.
