The new Ferrari California T gets its UK debut

Ferrari’s entry-level model – the Ferrari California – was not the most loved of Ferrari’s, with Ferrari ‘Anoraks’ proclaiming it a cynical marketing exercise by Ferrari. That didn’t stop the California selling well, but five years on from when the California arrived Ferrari has decided to make the California more focused with the arrival of the new Ferrari California T at the Geneva Motor Show.

Ferrari Anoraks still had room to moan, mind you, as the California T eschews the naturally aspirated route and goes turbo for the first time in a Ferrari since the F40.

But pragmatists see the upside of turbo power in the California, with almost 50 per cent more torque on tap and 552bhp to play with from the 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 the California T has at its disposal.

That means the California T can get to 62mph in just 3.6 seconds and yet still returns official fuel economy of 27mpg.

Now, with sales of the California T set to get underway, Ferrari has revealed the California T to potential UK buyers at a private event at Somerset House attended by 400 Ferrari clients, media and celebs.

Francesco Ball, Regional Manager for FNE, said:

We are delighted to introduce the California T to our clients here at this fantastic venue in the heart of London. The new design features and innovative technology introduced on the California T means that we are sure this car will be very well received by our clients and fans here in the UK.

And for those not considered important enough to get an invite to the Somerset House event, you’ll be able to see the California T at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in June.
