New Ferrari Enzo (F70) will NOT debut at Paris 2012

Sun, 16 Sep 2012

It seems that, despite expectations, Ferrari will not debut the new Enzo (F70) at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The expectation has been for some time that the new Ferrari Enzo (F70) would debut at this year’s 2012 Paris Motor Show. But now we don’t think it is.

Ferrari has been out in force this weekend at Silverstone for the Ferrari Racing Days, which means a lot of Ferrari nous is floating around taking in the glory of all things Maranello. So it seemed a good time to bend some ears about the F70.

We are pretty sure, after today, that Ferrari are going to limit the F70 to just 350 cars – that’s 50 less than the Enzo – and are NOT going to debut the F70 at Paris after all. That little morsel comes from more than one well-placed source.

Which means that there will be no F70 at Paris to compare with the new McLaren F1 (P12) – probably its closest rival – which was one of the things we were most looking forward to.

So when will Ferrari reveal the F70?

Well, we do know that it will debut in 2012, because Luca di Montezemolo told us. That means it can’t be arriving at Detroit in the New Year, so what event of any real significance is left between now and the end of the year?

As far as we can see, all that’s left for a public debut is the Australian Motor Show in Sydney next month and the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

And with the US still a big market place for Ferrari, our money is on the new Ferrari F70 debut at the LA Motor Show.
