Looks like the Lexus RC-F Coupe is heading for Detroit

With the Detroit Auto Show arriving as soon as we have Christmas and the New Year out of the way, the teases for new cars are going to start flowing. And Lexus are in early with a tease for a new model-F performance coupe. Lexus aren’t saying what the new F-Model will be, but its seems certain to be the Lexus RC-F, a high performance version of the Lexus RC Coupe revealed in Tokyo last month.

We had a heads-up in September that the RC-F Coupe was on the way, and with the BMW M4 expected to be revealed at the Detroit Auo Show too it will be a good opportunity to compare two cars pitching for the same buyers reevaled at the same time.

All Lexus are saying about their new F-Model is that it’s been engineered from scratch and promises to “…deliver performance synonymous with Lexus’s heritage of F-designated performance models”.

What will be under the skin of the RC-F remains to be seen; Lexus could bolt in the IS-F’s 5.0 litre V8, but we could see a tweaked version of the Lexus 3.5 litre V6 mated to an electric motor to give the RC-F instant torque and four wheel drive.

Whatever’s under the bonnet, the RC-F will arrive with an Ultra Blue paint job and even more aerodynamic bits bolted on than the RC has, at Detroit in January.
