New Mitsubishi Mirage: Price from £8,999

Wed, 20 Mar 2013

The new Mitsubishi Mirage City Car – which replaces the Colt in Mitsubishi’s lineup – will cost from £8,999 in the UK for the Mirage 1.0L.

Replacing the Colt in Mitsubishi’s lineup, the new Mirage offers a compact and economical option for buyers with a choice of two engines – 1.0 litre and 1.2 litre 3-cylinder – and three spec levels – Mirage, Mirage 2 and Mirage 3.

Aimed to take a piece of the market the VW Group is gobbling up with the Up! and Citigo, the new Mirage offers a decent level of equipment across the range and sub-100g/km emissions on all models.

Standard equipment includes daytime running lights, ABS, ASC, Brake Assist, Emergency Stop System and Hill Start (only with the CVT ‘box) as well as economy stuff like Stop-Start, regenerative braking and high efficiency alternator.

The entry-level Mirage 1.0 litre manual gets 14″ steel wheels, front electric windows, side airbags and a Radio/CD player, but if you opt for the Mirage 2 you’ll get AirCon, remote locking, electric windows, auto lights and wipers, electric door mirrors, privacy glass and re counter.

Top of the range Mirage 3 adds in 15″ alloys (unless you opt for the CVT ‘box when you’ll have to make do with 14″ alloys), leather steering wheel and gear knob, Front Fogs, Keyless, Climate and parking sensors.

Economy on the new Mirage is between 65.7mpg and 68.9mpg and emissions range from 95g/km to 100g/km, so there’s precious little difference between the two engines on offer and in the real world economy will be much the same across the Mirage range.

Colour choices are Polar White, Eisen Grey, Starlight Silver, Pop Green, Red, Reef Blue, Cosmos Black and White Pear, but all but the Polar White will cost you an extra £420, a 3 year service pack will cost you £350 (£25 extra if you opt for the CVT ‘box) and you can have mats, mudflaps, door sill protectors and boot mat for £199.

It’s a decent offer from Mitsubishi and deserves to have some success, offering decent engines and economy and more space than the Up! or Citigo.

The new Mitsubishi Mirage is now on sale in the UK.

Mirage 1 = £8,999

Mirage 2 = £10,999

Mirage 3 = £11,999

Mirage 3 CVT = £12,999
