New Mustang hits the silver screen

THE ALL-NEW Ford Mustang is following is ancestors onto the silver screen when it makes it film debut in Need for Speed, which is out on 14 March.

Starring Aaron Paul, the film uses a bright red Mustang Fastback. The film’s director, Scott Waugh, said: ‘I chose the Mustang because it is a car that represents American culture and modern muscle cars.

"It’s iconic and the Mustang has been in some of the greatest car chase film sequences ever."

Ford’s Jim Farley added: "On screen or on the road, the Mustang has been inspiring fans for five decades and it was a perfect match for Aaron Paul’s character in Need for Speed."

The Ford Mustang was launched in April 1964 and has gone on to appear in more than 3200 films and television programmes.

Its most famous movie appearance was in the 1968 film Bullitt with Steve McQueen where it was chased around the streets of San Francisco.
