The £124,900 Nissan GT-R SpecV for the UK

It’s almost a year since Nissan announced the GT-R SpecV for the Japanese market – and ten months since it went on sale – but they’ve just announced a limited run of Nissan GT-R SpecV for the UK and European markets. Just 40 will be produced at a slightly pricey £124,900 – more than twice the price of the Standard Nissan GT-R.

If you use anything else as a benchmark for value for performance the GT-R SpecV stacks up. But it does seem like an awful lot of money for a titivated GT-R, but if there are buyers willing to pay twice as much to have the ultimate GT-R then I suppsoe Nissan would be a bit daft to ignore the opportunity to make some profitable sales.

So what do you get for the extra £60k+? Well, you get all the updates the 2010MY GT-R gets plus you get a high gear boost control device which increases turbo boost for more torque and better in-gear performance. You get a set of Brembo ceramic brakes, revised springs, fixed-rate dampers and a titanium exhaust system.

On the styling front you get lightweight, racing-style alloys, carbon fibre rear spoiler, carbon fibre grill and carbon fibre brake ducts. These changes knock 60kg of the GT-R SPecV’s weight. The interior becomes a two seater, with black leather carbon fibre Recaros and liberal doses of carbon fibre throughout the cabin.

So if that lot is enough to make you get out your chequebook, there are just two places to get the SpecV in the UK – Nissan’s High Performance Centres in St Helens and West Way GT-R in Oxford. And you won’t even be able to see it in the flesh. The only place you can do that in Europe is at Nissan’s Sports Showroom at the Nurburgring.

Order by the 14th December and get the SpecV in April or by 22nd February 2010 for delivery in May.

The Nissan GT-R SpecV may cost twice as much as the regular GT-R, but they will sell. Quickly. Proper Supercars, by any definition.
