Nissan inaugurates new studio in TaiwanTue, 06 Nov 2007 00:00:00 -0800
The YNDC studio joins Nissan's Atsugi and Harajuku Design Centers in Japan, the Nissan Design America studios in Farmington Hills, Michigan and San Diego, California and the Nissan Design Europe facility in London, UK. Combined, these design studios are charged with working cooperatively and competitively to create the next-generation vehicle designs.
YNDC is expected to add value to the international design group through its unique design vision, attributed largely to its setting in one of the fastest developing new car markets. Similar to all other Nissan global design facilities, YNDC is also responsible for designing next-generation models and is duly equipped with an advanced digital modeling system and other state-of-the-art design equipment and technology.
The new 3,300 square meter facility, which sits on a 5,840 square meter parcel of land, employs 40 designers from Taiwan and around the world. The designers will work in six functional groups, including Exterior Design, Interior Design, Digital Design, Clay Modeling, Color Design and Design Research & Management.
Yulon Asia Design Center, which is the predecessor of YNDC, worked on the redesign of several Nissan products especially for the Taiwan and China markets, including the X-Trail SUV, Bluebird and Cefiro sedans, the retro-inspired Verita, the March (called the Micra in Europe) and the Serena MPV.
