OFFICIAL: Jaguar F-Type Coupe Los Angeles debut

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

The Jaguar F-Type Coupe (pictured) will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show

The Jaguar C-X16 – the first look we had at the F-Type – was revealed two years ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and despite the F-Type Roadster arriving at the Paris Motor Show last year we still haven’t had the debut of the F-Type Coupe. But now Jaguar are finally ready to reveal the production version of the F-Type Coupe.

It looks like Jaguar have planned a reveal for the F-Type Coupe similar to the one Land Rover did for the new Range Rover Sport – when Daniel Craig drove the new Sport across New York ahead of the opening of the show – as they tell us the F-Type Coupe will arrive on the eve of the Los Angeles Show.

At 7pm Los Angeles time on 19th November (3am UK time on the 20th) the Jaguar F-Type Coupe will get a ‘Dynamic Reveal’, which we take to mean the F-Type Coupe will be driven to the Los Angeles Show in a blaze of publicity, an event Jaguar will be streaming live.

Once the reveal of the new F-Type Coupe has happened – at both Los Angeles and at the Tokyo Motor Show – it will be spring 2014 before the new F-Type Coupe goes on sale with the same two 3.0 litre V6 S/C and the 5.0 litre S/C engines as the Roadster but, we hope, with the addition of a 550bhp F-Type R too.

Ian Callum, Jaguar Design boss, said:

The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Los Angeles for F-TYPE Coupé is a very significant moment.

We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to F-TYPE Convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports Coupé is a uniquely satisfying process – and I know that both visually and dynamically, F-TYPE Coupé raises the bar yet again.

Ian Callum clearly thinks the F-Type Coupe will be the definitive F-Type. We tend to agree.
