One Lap of the Web: Automotive feats of strength, stylish eBay finds and Australian speed limits

-- Like you, we've often wondered which vehicle would win in a tug of war: a Land Rover Defender, or a diesel Ram truck. And while we were wondering, some enterprising gents in the U.K. have actually gone out and done it. So filmed here in cinema verite style (really just shaky cameraphone), is a 2.5-liter diesel Land Rover Defender going up against a 5.9-liter diesel V8-powered Ram truck. The Ram gets points for style for impressive amounts of tire smoke.

-- Remember the Bitter SC? These were thought to be quite stylish back in the day, and they've actually aged well, all things considered. The Opel Senator-based cars combined vaguely Italian styling on the outside with solid German engineering underneath. Well, solid German engineering if you were in Europe -- as parts for the Bitter were hard to come by in the U.S. There are still a few of these around, including a handful of convertible and sedan versions.
