One Lap of the Web: BMW M4 coupe, 'Fast & Furious 7' and soap box racing

Wed, 17 Jul 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about.

-- We all know the new BMW M3 coupe – ahem, M4 coupe -- is on the horizon for the German brand, but we can only speculate about the new performance car. Top Gear Magazine recently had an interview with BMW, shedding some light on the new car's features -- including lighter weight, more agility and turbocharging. Join the conversation here.

-- Hooniverse asks, “What's the best new modification you can do to a new car?” Add your two cents here and join the debate. We must say it's a pretty hard question, considering that it all depends on the type of car you're starting with. For the sort of cars we like, we're going to go with new tires and exhaust.

-- We're still on our “Fast & Furious” movie high and are looking forward to seeing what the seventh installment has in store next summer. The movie has yet to enter production, but the filmmakers are asking the public where they should film the next movie. Personally, we don't care as long as there are fast cars, awesome Vin Diesel one-liners, and over-the-top action scenes with the Rock head-butting someone.

-- Red Bull Soap Box Racing (yes, they have managed to sponsor soap box racing) is actually quite a sight to see. These aren't your typical cars, though, as there are double-decker bus replicas, “Angry Birds” costumes and more. It's essentially Comic Con and soap box racing mixed in together with an unusual, yet entertaining, end result. Check it out here.
