One Lap of the Web: Catch Dodge Fever, Zagato and Joe Isuzu: a retrospective

Mon, 03 Jun 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about.

-- Robert Tate takes a look at the Dodge “Fever” campaign at motorcities.org and gives us a bit of background on the “Fever Girl” Joan Parker. Anyone remember this campaign? What about Dodge's “Material Girl"?

-- Petrolicious explores the designs of Zagato. We remember the coachbuilder's double-bubble classics, like its take on the 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT, but Zagato has also been behind some pretty wacky designs. Can't win 'em all, we guess.

-- Here's an idea: A 1200-cc BMW flat-four powered recumbent motorcycle. Is it a good idea or a bad idea? That's for you to decide. Either way, it's called the Supine Exodus and it will supposedly start at $55,000.

-- HOLY CRAP IS THAT A JEEP WILLYS DRIFTING AROUND A TRACK? Well, sort of. It's a Jeep-like body sitting atop a drift-happy Nissan Silvia/240SX platform. Check out the video at Jalopnik.

-- Joe Isuzu may have lacked the sex appeal of the Dodge Fever girl, but he nevertheless helped move cars -- or at least helped make Isuzu a household name. Hemmings has put together a nice Joe Isuzu retrospective featuring all the classic television spots.
