One Lap of the Web: Dying wishes, Euro cars and worst traffic jam in history

Fri, 24 May 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we’re not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there’s more out there than we’d ever be able to cover, here’s our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about.

If you’d like to start the day off with a good cry, read about 17-year-old Zach Sobiech over at Autoblog. He was diagnosed with cancer at age 14 and his one wish was to drive a Nissan GT-R. Nissan obliged before Zach passed, three weeks after his 18th birthday.

We already know that Europeans get all the good cars. One of the many is the Renault Twin’Run. The Twin’Run sports a 316-hp V6, and only needs to push 2,094 pounds. Check out some video over at worldcarfans.com

Forbes Autos is talking about the worst traffic jams in history. As bad as Los Angeles and New York are, imagine being in Beijing for “the big one.” August 2010: a 62-mile jam that lasted an incredible 12 days.

With the news of Ford’s Australian branch closing, the Wall Street Journal is asking readers to send in pictures of their Ford Falcons. WSJ is adding them to its Twitter feed at #WSJfalcon.

If you never thought you’d see a $40,000 Acura Integra, check out the NWP4Life forum where it is for sale with nearly every upgrade imaginable. We can’t guarantee it’ll be a 10-second car, but you might get picked up as an extra in the next “Fast & Furious” movie.
