One Lap of the Web: Porsche 959s, the Alfa Romeo 4C and the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG vs. the BMW M135i

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about.

-- When initially produced to satisfy FIA homologation requirements in 1986, the Porsche 959 was the world's fastest street-legal production car. The twin-turbo flat-six monster still lays down numbers that could send other sports car packing for home. Check out Canepa Motorsports' collection of nine 959s (out of 337 ever made) here and learn more about what made this car so special.

-- Chris Harris recently pitted the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and the BMW M135i against each other, including the usual hooning, in-depth analysis and his opinion on what car ends up being the best. Grab a coffee and check out the video below.

-- The son of Equatorial Guinea's dictator had an impressive collection of cars, including two Bugatti Veyrons, a Ferrari Enzo, a Porsche Carrera GT and a host of other cars. All those toys were seized back in 2011 but Reuters recently reported that auction company Drouot unloaded the cars for roughly $3.7 million. The list of reasons why his cars were seized in the first place is endless.

-- We're salivating at the upcoming arrival of the Alfa Romeo 4C to the states later this year. Until then, take a ride with “Top Gear” as they ride shotgun with the upcoming Italian sports car.
