One Lap of the Web: Semi-truck drifting, quintessential British cars and Jay Leno's Garage

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about.

-- When you think of Gymkhana, you normally just think of Ken Block ripping up streets with a Ford Fiesta. Until now. Check out the folks from Becx-TDS Racing hoon a semi around a parking lot. Watching this thing move defies the laws of physics and pretty much makes all other cars seem inadequate.

-- Michael Bay, director of the “Transformers” movie franchise, keeps rolling out new cars that will be featured in the upcoming fourth movie. The latest car to be revealed is a 2014 Freightliner Argosy cab-over truck. We just wonder if it'll be a Decepticon or an Autobot. We're guessing it could be an evil counterpart to Optimus Prime.

-- BBC Autos has put out a list of its 10 quintessential British cars. Among the bunch is an Aston Martin DB5, a Morgan 3-Wheeler and a Land Rover Defender. Sadly, the Reliant Robin did not make the cut.

-- “Jay Leno's Garage” takes a look at the most profound police cars over the last 40 years. Check out the video below and see if you remember any of these cars pulling you over.
