One Lap of the Web: Shark-jumper cars, tether cars, and Bratty cars

Wed, 09 Oct 2013

-- There's a Marcos for sale on eBay this week, and it's already attracted quite a few bids with nine days left to go. While you may remember what the Marcos looked like, do you recall that they were sold through the Volvo dealer network in the U.S.? Or that they used Volvo engines?

-- The editors of Hooniverse have asked their readers which car they thought had jumped the shark. We have our own thoughts on this, and the readers of that site shared some of their "favorites" in this category. Which car do you think has jumped the shark?

-- So a skeleton drives a car through a fast food drive through. What could possibly be the employees' reaction? This video answers that, and we expect copycats around Halloween. (Expletives have been bleeped out, but you still might not want to watch this at work.)

-- While we do not recall the exact moment in time when classic Subaru Brats became "a thing," Bringatrailer has featured one this week on sale from Colorado, with four days left to go. This being a 1986 model, it's almost in used-car territory, and with all-wheel-drive and winter just around the corner, now might not be a bad time to buy one.

-- What does a tether car going north of 200 mph sound like? We're glad you asked, because some gentlemen have answered that question by taking a tether car to 205 mph -- which is about on the edge of their camera's limits to capture the action. We're just glad that it stayed on track, as anything hitting anyone at 205 mph is going to leave a mark.
