Pink Lamborghini & Richard Hammond bring a Ray of Sunshine

Richard Hammond chats to Emilia by the pink Lamborghini Aventador

There is little in life that’s as inspiring as the courage of a sick child. And organisations that make the wishes of sick children come true bring a ray of sunshine in to the lives of not just sick children, but their loved ones too. The aptly named Rays of Sunshine charity have pulled off just such a life enhancing event with the help of Lamborghini dealers H.R. Owen, Top Gear’s Richard Hammond and a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster.

The little girl in question, a bright and bubbly carrot top called Emilia, has a passion for pink, a passion for fast cars and a passion for Richard Hammond.

So Rays of Sunshine got H.R. Owen to plasti-dip their white Aventador Roadster to turn it a fetching shade of pink, Richard Hammond jumped in to his helicopter to pick the Lambo up from an airfield and off they went to surprise Emilia.

Dressed in pink, and obviously delighted, Emilia was then treated to Hammond’s best and most caring side (it’s not hard to tell he’s a dad of little girls) and got to be driven back to the airfield by the Hamster before calling for clearance for a quick run down the airstrip.

It’s a heart-warming episode of those who can doing good for those who need it; Hammond was solicitous, chatty and amusing – without being condescending – H.R. Owen went the extra mile and one very sick little girl was allowed to forget her plight for a short time, and glory in a life-enhancing moment money couldn’t buy.

All involved deserve huge plaudits for such an act.

Now, why is the keyboard getting damp?
