Politecnico di Milano collaborates with Volkswagen for 2011 Masters course

Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy, is collaborating with the Volkswagen Group to create the third installment of its Masters Degree in Transportation & Automobile Design. The course, which will run for 15 months, will be open to 25 graduates. The deadline for applications is 23 May 2011.

The course is open to 25 students already holding a degree in Industrial Design, Architecture or Engineering and is aimed at training new car designers and will focus on the development of their creativity.

The course is said to take on 'a theoretical and academic approach, integrated with practical training in order to teach the full styling development process as typically used in car industry'. Special focus will be given on virtual development tools, on interior design and on understanding of materials and colors.

Volkswagen Group is already supporting several initiatives for the Politecnico di Milano School of Design students, either through internships, or by inviting students to participate in car design contests. Volkswagen Group will support this Master course with direct teaching to assure coherence with the car design market companies' needs.

The course, open to successful applicants at a fee of €10,000, is accepting applications until 23 May 2011 deadline.
