Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 - this time from Stuttgart

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 has been rumoured for a while, and yesterday we finally had so much information on the Porsche 911 RSR for the road that we ran the story.

We had a set of photos of the 911 GT3 RS 4.0, and just about all the specs you’re likely to need, so there seemed no point in not publishing what we had. But, as we said yesterday, that amount of information on a yet-to-be revealed car would force Porsche’s hand. And it has.

So today we get the full Monty – GT3 RS 4.0 photos, video and specs – straight from the horse’s mouth. Well, Stuttgart, anyway.

But there’s not much to say we didn’t say yesterday. The photos in the gallery below are slightly higher resolution than they were yesterday, and we’ve got a GT3 RS 4.0 video. But the specs yesterday were on the money, although they do warrant a repeat.

The 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is basically the GT3 RS with the RSR engine, stroked to bring it up to 4.0 litres. That means 493bhp and 341lb/ft of torque, with a six-speed manual ‘box and a beefed-up clutch.

Carbon fibre gets splashed around from seats to bumpers to keep the weight down, and there’s a plundering of lots of bits of RS kit from the Porsche options list to make the GT3 RS 4.0 look the business. And it does.

Standard colours are white or black and white wheels seem to be the same whichever you choose. The aero package gets a tweak with some flicks at the front edges to give an extra slug of downforce, and there are ’4.0′ logos dotted about the place so the neighbours know you’ve got the new GT3 RS, and not that now passe 3.8.

Porsche are making just 600 worldwide – and less than 50 to the UK –  so if you want one you’d better get a shake-on.

If you have almost £130k to spare, that is (which is actually a bit less then we expected).
