Qoros GQ3: Chinese rival for the Ford Focus revealed

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

The first of a new range of cars from the Chinese Qoros brand – the Qoros GQ3 – has been revealed ahead of a debut at Geneva 2013.

Three months ahead of that reveal Qoros has jumped in with a reveal of their first offering and some details about what it has on offer. Unsurprisingly, the reality is somewhat less exciting to look at than the dynamic-looking teaser image we saw last month.

Planned to go on sale in both China and Europe during 2013 the Qoros GQ3 is aimed at young buyers, although why any car company would build a C-Segment saloon and expect young buyers to lap it up in Europe is beyond us. We can only assume the attraction will be a Dacia inspired pricing structure.

Qoros say the GQ3 has a sporty, elegant profile with a long wheelbase with short overhangs and sets the styling cues for future Qoros models – which will be released at six monthly intervals – with the family face and triple-split eight-spoke alloys a theme to come across the range.

Qoros are also promising class-leading infotainment technology for their young target market with an 8″ screen controlling stuff like SatNav, Internet and full smartphone integration. There’s no news on powertrains, but it seems likely Qoros will kick off with a range of petrol options.

No doubt we will be teased endlessly with more bits of information on the Qoros GQ3 between now and its debut at Geneva 2013.
