Range Rover Evoque 2012 GTS by Overfinch

Fri, 06 Jul 2012

After a sneaky peek at Goodwood, Overfinch has now launched their take on the Evoque – the Range Rover Evoque 2012 GTS.

The fact that the Range Rover Evoque already sells, to a big degree, on looks might make you conclude that there’s a limited market for customised versions. But you’d be wrong; there’s a huge potential market.

If you have any doubts about that you need only look at Land Rover’s own customised Evoque – the Evoque By Beckham – that appeared only six months after the first customer Evoques arrived.

But if you have reservations about buying an Evoque with its titivations inspired by a former Spice Girl (although, we have to say, it’s a decent effort) there is now an alternative from the people who really know all there is to know about customising Land Rovers – Overfinch.

Overfinch are back in business after a brush with the banks in 2010, stronger than ever and now run by what used to be their retailing division in Leeds. And the Overfinch Range Rover Evoque 2012 GTS is a fine effort.

Overfinch has always had the innate ability to leave well alone the bits of a Land Rover that don’t need any changes and instead concentrate on enhancing the elements that add to the appeal.

Yes, the alloys are 22″ and a bit blingy, but they work. There’s a more aggressive nose and a titivated rump that do make the Evoque look a bit more ready for business.

You get the usual ‘OVERFINCH’ lettering spelt out on the bonnet and boot, and the interior is re-trimmed in a tasteful way. Well, we perhaps wouldn’t have chosen Lotus White leather, but there’s no OTT ruching and quilting that shouts ‘wannabe’.

Based on a 3 door Dynamic Plus Evoque with Lux pack, the Overfinch Evoque 2012 GTS will set you back £89,995, which is a chunk more than a bog standard Evoque, but only a decent handbag more than the Victoria Beckham Evoque costs.

And if you ask Mrs Beckham which Range Rover Evoque she wants (which she really, really wants) the truth is it will probably be the Overfinch Evoque. Just like every other lady who lunches in Cheshire, Surrey and Essex. And, we wouldn’t mind betting, a fair few of their menfolk too.

We don’t think Overfinch will have much trouble shifting their Evoque.
