Renault is to debut the new Renault Megane CC at the Geneva Motor Show

A couple of weeks ago we had a teaser photo of the new Renault Megane CC which is due to launch at the Geneva Motor Show next month. As usual all we got was an arty picture – in this case of the rear 3/4 view – and a few details. But now Geneva is getting closer Renault has decided to divvy up a set of pictures and a fair amount of detail.

Probably the most notable feature of the Megane CC is the roof. The new roof is said to be the biggest all-glazed in class and has black metal spars giving the illusion of a full glass roof. But there is a price to pay for the trick roof with only 417 litres of boot space with the roof up and a paltry 217 litres if you want it open.

The Megane CC also gets a clever ‘box – Renault’s six speed dual clutch – which Renault say cuts CO2 emissions by 17% compared to a standard auto. Engine choices are three petrol and three diesel. Diesel power plants are dCi 110 DPF, dCi 130 DPF and dCi 160 DPF. Petrols are 1.6 16V 110hp, TCe 130 and 2.0 16V 140hp.

The spec on the Megane CC is pretty comprehensive, with goodies such as hands-free starting and locking, Climate, Bi-Xenons, Arkamys Audio and  TomTom StaNav.

As you would expect, Renault has plenty to say on the Megane CC, so if you want all 1500 words plus have a look at the Renault Megane CC Press Release.

The Megane CC will be on the Renault stand at Geneva next month – together with the new Twing-based Renault Wind – and will go on sale later in 2010. Expect prices to start around £19,500.
