Renault Twingo Gordini Renaultsport revealed

Wed, 25 Nov 2009

The new Twingo Gordini Renaultsport will go on sale in March 2010

It’s only a couple of weeks since we reported that Renault are going to revive the Renault Gordini badge for a new range of sporty cars, a report that was followed a few days later with a confirmation from Renault, and the news that the Twingo Gordini Renaultsport would be the first to launch. And Renault has now revealed the first of the Gordini cars.

The new Twingo Gordini stays faithful to the heritage of the Gordini moniker with a Fench Blue paint job, white stripes and quilted leather. You get the requisite Gordini badges, 17″ alloys, Renaultsport seats, leather-trimmed dash, a leather-covered steering wheel with white stripes to show you the centre point (should you be driving a Renaultsport if you don’t know where the wheels are pointing?) and a blue rev counter.

The underpinnings of the Twingo Gordini are based on the Twingo 133 Renaultsport and has a 1.6 litre, 133bhp petrol lump with an exhaust tuned to sound good under acceleration. As with most Renaultsport models you can opt for the ‘Cup’ suspension if your back can take it.

As you would expect, there are toys that can be added if you wish, such as a panoramic roof, Bluetooth and polished alloys with blue inserts. Renault are launching the Twingo Gordini at the Renault Centre on the Champs-Elysees on 10th January 2010 and it will go on sale in March.

No word on price – UK or otherwise – yet.
