Report: Chevrolet Cruze, Toyota Corolla lowest lease payments in May

The Chevrolet Cruze and Toyota Corolla sedans offered the lowest average monthly lease payments in May, according to records by Swapalease.com.

On average, Chevy Cruze lessees paid just $214 per month, while average Toyota Corolla lessees paid $234.

Records show the cheapest alternative fuel vehicle's lease is the Chevrolet Volt at $315. The Nissan Altima at $343 tops the list as the lowest average lease for a midsize sedan. Luxury cars were led by the Infiniti G37 at $444.

Now may be the time to lease, as the average rates overall have decreased slightly since April, and automotive analyst Experian Automotive found that leases make up 27.5 percent of all new vehicles financed -- the highest level since 2006.
