Rolls-Royce Wraith revealed: Geneva Motor Show 2013

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

The Rolls Royce Wraith has been revealed as a 624bhp V12 Fastback with 590lb/ft of torque and a 0-60mph of 4.4 seconds.

Rolls Royce claim the Wraith as the most dynamic car they’ve ever produced and, even though it is still the size of a football pitch, it actually sits on a shortened Ghost wheelbase with a wider track to make it a bit more nimble.

Rolls Royce has also stiffened the Ghost’s suspension for the Wraith (although not too much) for a bit less roll and added a bit more weight to the steering. The Wraith isn’t exactly a sports car, but it’s distinctly on the sport side, especially for a Rolls Royce. But then the Wraith is a Roll,s Royce to drive, not to be driven in.

Inside there’s the usual RR opulence with Phantom quality veneers and leather and you can opt for the ‘Starry, Starry Night’ roof lining if you want to be twinkled at. There’s also a new eight-speed ZF ‘box that uses GPS as well as driver intent to set the Wraith up for the road ahead.

All very impressive, even if the back is about as appealing as the old Bentley Flying Spur.

The Rolls Royce Wraith will go on sale in the Summer and first customer cars should arrive in the Autumn. Expect the price to be the wrong side of £200k.
