Saab bidding closed, buyer announced soon

We should know the buyer of Saab soon

The Swedish press have been told that the bidding on Saab has now closed and that the successful buyer will be announced shortly.

It’s amazing how much interest – and speculation - there is around the demised Saab; so much so we’ve probably reported as much on Saab after its demise as we did when it was in the throes of turmoil.

Saab’s administrator, Hans Bergqvist, has revealed that the bidding process is now closed and that he will be talking to Saab stakeholders to discuss the bids and confirm which of the number of bidders is successful. But who are the bidders?

It seems clear that China’s Youngman still want a piece of Saab – GM permitting, which seems unlikely – and we also think India’s Mahindra may be in the Saab game. The bid from Turkey’s Brightwell Holdings for Saab appears not to be going forward, after GM put obstacles in the way, and we have big doubts about the veracity of the claim that BMW are to bid for Saab.

But Hans Bergqvist said that although he wouldn’t give any details of the bidders, or their bids, they all “very interesting, well-researched and meet our expectations”.

We should know the fate of Saab soon.
